Building Confident Readers and Writers for the Long Term
Strategies that stay with students.
Every child is capable of becoming a confident, independent reader and writer. Some students clearly struggle. Others appear to be doing just fine — but may have foundational gaps quietly growing beneath the surface. Whether your child needs to catch up, keep up, or get ahead, the right support makes all the difference.
At The Learning Loft Workshop, we go beyond homework help. We identify exactly where each student needs support, teach clear repeatable strategies, and provide guided practice in a warm, supportive setting. Because our goal isn't just progress this year. It's confidence and independence for every year ahead.
How We Support Your Child
Small Group Literacy Workshops
Our small group workshops are the heart of The Learning Loft Workshop. Students are thoughtfully grouped by skill level — not grade — and participate in structured sessions covering the key components of literacy: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, reading comprehension, and writing.
Through strategy-based instruction, guided practice, and independent application, students build the skills they need to read, write, and think with confidence.
1:1 Intensive Support
For students who need more individualized attention, one-on-one sessions provide targeted support to close specific learning gaps and strengthen foundational skills at a pace that meets their needs.
STAAR Preparation
STAAR season doesn't have to be stressful. Our focused preparation sessions help students apply the reading and writing strategies they've built — so they can approach test day feeling ready and confident.
We’ll help you determine the right fit during your consultation.

Michelle Bonner
Reading & writing specialist
"After more than 20 years in the classroom, I began to notice a pattern. Students were moving from grade to grade without truly mastering the reading and writing skills they needed — and the pace of today's classrooms was making it harder and harder to close those gaps.
I created The Learning Loft Workshop because I believe every child is capable of growth when given the right support. My instruction is grounded in the Science of Reading and built around one goal: helping students become confident, independent learners — not just for this year, but for every grade ahead."

The Workshop Method
Our sessions are designed to go beyond completing assignments. We teach students how to approach reading and writing with confidence by providing structured, strategy-based instruction they can apply independently.
Our instruction is grounded in research-based practices aligned with the Science of Reading, ensuring students build strong, lasting literacy skills.
-
Each student begins with a brief literacy assessment to identify strengths and areas for growth, allowing us to build a strong starting point for instruction.
-
Students are placed in small groups based on their skill level so they receive targeted instruction that meets their individual needs.
-
Students learn clear, repeatable reading and writing strategies they can apply across subjects, grade levels, and assignments.
-
Students practice alongside the teacher in a supportive environment, building understanding, accuracy, and confidence.
-
Students apply what they’ve learned on their own, strengthening independence and the ability to transfer skills to the classroom.
-
Students receive consistent feedback and support as they continue to grow and refine their literacy skills over time.
